Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions govern the supply of products and services by Sussex Blinds & Shutters Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) to any person or business (“you”, “your”) who places an order with us. By requesting a quotation, placing an order, or accepting a survey or installation from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
About Us
Sussex Blinds & Shutters Ltd has been supplying and fitting blinds, shutters, curtains and awnings across Sussex since 1988. We are a member of the British Blind & Shutter Association (BBSA).
Registered office: 36-38 Warren Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN2 6BA. Telephone: 01273 684 848. Email: enquiries@sussexblindsltd.co.uk.
Quotations and Estimates
All quotations are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. Quotations are based on the measurements, specifications and site conditions known to us at the time of survey, and may be subject to change if these details differ once work begins.
Orders and Acceptance
An order is only confirmed once you have accepted a written quotation and, where applicable, paid the required deposit. Once an order is confirmed, it is treated as a binding contract between you and Sussex Blinds & Shutters Ltd.
Because the majority of our products are made to measure and manufactured specifically for your property, orders cannot be amended once production has started without agreement from both parties, and amendments may incur additional charges.
Pricing and Payment
Prices are quoted in pounds sterling and include VAT unless stated otherwise. A deposit is typically required to confirm an order, with the balance due on or before completion of installation, as set out in your individual quotation or invoice.
We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue balances in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998, where applicable.
Measuring and Made-to-Measure Products
Where we carry out measuring on your behalf, we take great care to ensure accuracy. Where measurements are provided by you or a third party, we cannot be held responsible for errors arising from those measurements.
Due to the bespoke nature of made-to-measure blinds, shutters, curtains and awnings, minor variations in colour, texture or finish between samples and the finished product may occur and do not constitute a fault.
Delivery and Installation
Estimated delivery and installation dates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed, as they can be affected by factors outside our control, including manufacturing lead times and supplier availability. We will keep you informed of any changes to agreed dates.
Access to the property and any relevant power supplies must be made available on the agreed installation date. Additional charges may apply if a return visit is required due to access not being available.
Your Right to Cancel
If you are a consumer and your order was placed off-premises (for example, following a home visit) or at a distance (for example, by phone or online), you may have the right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Please note that this right does not generally apply to goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, which includes the majority of our made-to-measure blinds, shutters, curtains and awnings, once production has begun. Where your order includes bespoke, made-to-measure items, your right to cancel may be limited once you have confirmed the order and manufacturing has started.
Warranty and Guarantee
All products are supplied with the manufacturer’s guarantee, details of which will be provided at the time of order. Our installation work is guaranteed for a period specified in your order confirmation. This does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Child Safety
The safety of children, babies and vulnerable people is central to how we work. Corded blinds can present a strangulation risk, and we take this seriously at every stage, from initial recommendation through to installation.
Every recommendation we make starts with safety, before style and function are considered. Where a household includes children or vulnerable people, we will guide you toward the safest suitable options, including cordless and motorised alternatives, and will fit safety devices such as cord cleats and tensioners as standard where corded products are supplied.
If you already have blinds fitted and are concerned about child safety, we are happy to advise on practical steps you can take to reduce risk, including the fitting of cord cleats, tensioners, and safer repositioning of existing products. Visit our showroom in Brighton or get in touch to arrange a visit.
We work alongside our suppliers and the British Blind & Shutter Association to ensure the products we supply meet, and continue to meet, recognised child safety standards. You can read the current legal requirements for internal window blinds here: Legal Requirements for Internal Window Blinds.

Liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability which cannot be limited or excluded under English law.
Subject to the above, we shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from the supply or installation of our products.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our products or service, please contact us at enquiries@sussexblindsltd.co.uk or call 01273 684 848, and we will do our best to resolve the matter promptly.
Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
